It's gorgeous. And it's making me rethink some of my kitchen ideas. Decorno posted about this kitchen yesterday, but then I found more pics here. I had decided to use one of Ikea's pantry cabinet in the redone kitchen, next to the fridge. Like this:

We badly need a broom closet somewhere. Anywhere. I really like how the Ikea pantries have all the little places for everything, but it would probably be a lot more interesting to have a pantry cabinet made from reclaimed wardrobe doors. Hmmm. One of our original ideas was to use new cabinets beneath the counter and reclaimed, interesting-looking cabinets above the counter. But then I started thinking new! shiny! cabinets are what I want. And now I am possibly returning to our original ideas. Remember how it took us nine years to buy a couch? Yeah.

I've been wanting a Blik decal for my office wall-- to hide the smudges caused by parking my bike against it. I haven't yet found the ideal thing, but whenever I check out their site, I always see something I like.
Mina Javid's designs are delightful, especially the warehouse pendant light:

I think I need a pair of booties to complete my fall wardrobe. Not that any wardrobe is ever complete, but you know what I mean. I'm thinking a very low ankle boot with a medium heel, possibly in an interesting color. I'd love to do a high heel, but I need something I can walk in, and unfortunately, wishful thinking does not make four inch heels any less debilitating.
Maybe these.

This post on Decorno got me thinking about what many people call sofas. My grandmother calls them davenports. I wish I had the guts to sport that affectation.
When we got married, Rex’s and my taxable income came to about $11K--, not $111K, no, you read those two digits correctly, so our furniture was all donated. We had a lovely old camel-back sofa courtesy of Rex’s grandmother. It had been upholstered in a pinkish toile, but his roommate’s cat shredded the toile irreparably, so Rex ripped it off, leaving the muslin, which quickly got filthy. When I moved in with him, I reupholstered the couch in a dark jewel-tone tapestry-style fabric using brass tacks and a glue gun. It looked fine, although it was rather uncomfortable.
(This is the pink toile, all that's left is a pillow.)

I don't want to disappoint my two fans who checked in here this morning for my all-important opinions on Emmy fashion, but I am just not feeling the love for anything I saw last night. Change of seasons crabbiness maybe, but still. Yawn. Other than some truly beautiful colors, I'm feeling pretty meh about the dresses.
I loves me some Mary Louise Parker and think it's great that she went short and in a fab color, but this look requires a major shoe. It should have been totteringly high, big and bold.

I got bored with my hair and decided four inches needed to disappear. Four inches that were behaving quite unreasonably in the humid Philly late summer.
